How to Make An Under the Sea Sensory Bin

Sensory play is a great way for little ones to learn about and explore their world. It can also be very calming for kids and helps improve their fine motor skills. I recently made this ocean-themed sensory bin and it was a huge success.

You will need:

  • Water beads (such as these)
  • Plastic animals
  • Tub
  • Water

It is simple to put together and the little one will love it! It does take about 8 hours for the beads to expand, so plan ahead the night before. To encourage language skills, you can talk about the texture of the beads (smooth, bumpy, wet, etc.). You can also hide animals in the beads and have children complete a scavenger hunt to find them (great for listening skills!).
